DATABASES This week in ICT we created a database of clowns.
A database is a way of storing lots of information on a computer.
We all had a sheet of questions to ask the computers.
TRADITIONAL STORIES We all had partners to read traditional stories with. Once we had read the whole book we made a review of it.
MAD SCIENCE
We had a big box and we had some bottles of ice on top of the box. The ice melted and made it rain in the box!

ICT week in Year 3
Tuesday, 23 February 2010
We have been focusing on using different ICT equipment each day of the week.
On Monday in maths we were learning about directions and compass points. We played a game outside called North, South, East and West. The children practiced finding the different locations. Inside the classroom the children then used Roamer to program the machine to move in different directions. We estimated the different distances and used degrees to turn Roamer. It was great fun!
Later in the week we thought about what we use computers for. We gathered some ideas and then we created acrostic poems all about computers. We typed them up, saved and printed our poems. Please come and read them if you have time- they are on the ICT in our Year 3 classroom.
During our music this half term we have been listening to rap songs. This week we listened to Mr Noah rap song and identified the rhythm and pattern to the rap song. We then worked in groups to create another verse to extend the rap. Listen to how cool we sound!
We hope that you all had a lovely half term holiday.
A testing week

On Monday and Tuesday we have been doing Maths SATS and some of us did very well. We all had individual desks and nobody was allowed to talk.
On Wednesday we did our literacy SATS. We wrote about a statue that came to life!
On Thursday morning year 3 answered questions from a tape. The questions were on the topic of times and divide.
On Friday in Maths we had to crack a code by answering sums, but we couldn't unlock the code because we got a couple of the sums wrong! Later in literacy we wrote sentences, entirely in joined up writing. The sentences were all about the Egyptians.
