Miller Shield Football – 2010.

Sandy Hill A team continued their defence of the Miller Shield, which they won last year, with a very tough semi final away to St Breock Primary from Wadebridge on Thursday. The spirit in the Sandy Hill team had been tested this week when we went out in the semi final of the district five – a – side to an own goal. However, when we went to St Breock, everyone was confident about the game. The match started with both sides playing well, but it was Sandy who began to get on top, with Kieron Bishop scoring a fine opening goal. Shortly after, good work from Dillon Frise and Daniel Stephenson set up Roy Hooper who scored the second. Right on Half time Kieron grabbed the all important third goal. In the second half Sandy took over, Luke Taylor came on for Jack Hannaford and Eddie Glover came on for Jamie Gough. But this did not change the game with Roy Hooper adding two more goals to complete his hat trick. Final score St Breock 0 Sandy Hill 5.
A great team performance from everyone involved. The final is next Wednesday against St Hilary school in Truro. So come and watch another great team from Sandy!
Thanks to Mr Hooper for driving the mini bus so well!

The game started with Sandy playing well and soon were in control of the match. The second half saw Jack Curley coming on in defence, but this did not change the pattern of the game. Sandy had more chances to score with both Daniel and Ben coming close. But finally Sandy got the all important second goal when Jamie Gough played a brilliant ball up to Ben who scored again to make it 2-0. Mevagissey did come back into it in the final minutes, but Nathan Retallick made two good saves. Final score Sandy 2 –Mevagissey 0. Sandy remain top of their league. Man of the Match Jamie Gough.

Just before half time, a great pass from Jack Taylor allowed Jack Hooper to turn and score the first goal. In the second half,Scott Foster and Archie ?// came on.
