Sandy Hill continued their impressive league campaign on Tuesday with a home fixture against Mevagissey School. Sandy were a much changed side with many players injured, sick or away from school. The game started with Sandy playing well and soon were in control of the match. The first goal came when Luke Taylor played a great ball out of defence to Daniel Stephenson, who sent over a lovely cross for Ben Trethewey to score a fine team goal. Half time 1-0 to Sandy. The second half saw Jack Curley coming on in defence, but this did not change the pattern of the game. Sandy had more chances to score with both Daniel and Ben coming close. But finally Sandy got the all important second goal when Jamie Gough played a brilliant ball up to Ben who scored again to make it 2-0. Mevagissey did come back into it in the final minutes, but Nathan Retallick made two good saves. Final score Sandy 2 –Mevagissey 0. Sandy remain top of their league. Man of the Match Jamie Gough.
Yr 3 & 4 Team.
The Year 3&4 team played against Mevagissey also on Tuesday. The younger boys are really playing well now and are developing into a very good team. The home side started well and threaten to score on several occasions. Wade Mitchell was safe in goal, Stuart Strongman and Ryan ???? were tackling well in defence, the midfield of Ethan Harris, Jack Taylor and Liam Phillips were busy in midfield and Little Jack Hooper was lively up front. Just before half time, a great pass from Jack Taylor allowed Jack Hooper to turn and score the first goal. In the second half,Scott Foster and Archie ?// came on. But Sandy were in control and should have scored more goals. However finally from a corner the ball was played up to Jack H who turned to score a fantastic second goal. Final score Sandy 2 Mevagissey 0. The younger boys are also top of their league. Man of the Match – Jack Hooper.

European Safer Internet Day (SID) is taking place on Tuesday 9th February. It is supported by countries throughout Europe and during the week, a range of activities will be taking place across the continent to help protect young people online. The theme for SID10 is ‘Think Before You Post’ and we have several events planned at Sandy Hill to mark the occasion, so come back soon to find out more.

Sandy Hill A Team V.Pondu A team.
Sandy Hill played their first game for five weeks because of the bad weather, cold and Father Christmas coming. However, this did not put any of the Sandy players off. Pondu kicked off and from then on Sandy took control. Nathan was very, very happy in goal, Luke and Dillon were safe at the back, midfield of Eddie, Jamie (and his hair), and Kieron were busy and Ben was finally running up front. Kieron opened the scoring with two fine goals, Eddie added a third in the second half and right at the end super sub Ross Osborne scored the final goal of the game .Final score Sandy 4 Pondu 0. Sandy remain top of the league and unbeaten this season.
Yr 3 & 4 Team
The Year 3&4 team played their first game after Christmas also against Pondu. Wade Mitchell was excellent in goal, defenders Stuart, Ryan, Scott and Archie were great in defence, the midfield trio of Jack Taylor, Liam Phillips and Ethan were all playing well and Jack Hooper was always a threat up front. The first goal came early from Liam Phillips, however Pondu got two back before half time. In the second half, Jack Taylor made it 2-2 and right at the end Jack Hooper scored the winner. Final score Sandy 3 Pondu 2. Sandy remain top of the Yr 3&4 league!
Sandy V Probus School
Sandy began their defence of the Miller Shield against a very strong team from ProbusSchool. The game started in bad conditions, but with both teams playing well. Probus started the better and hit the bar early on. However as the game went on Sandy got control. Kieron Bishop was brought down just outside the box and awarded a free kick from which he scored a fine goal. In the second half, Sandy were the better team and more goals followed. Ben Trethewey scored from close range after good work from Eddie on the right. Jamie Gough fired in a third goal from a corner to make it 3-0 then super sub Ross Osborne score two great goals to make the final score Sandy 5 Probus 0. A great result for the boys and the school and Mr Weale’s new PINK hat!
Dog poo that can cause a lot of illnesses - so now Staffordshire council have decided to spray it fluorescent pink to highlight how much of a problem it can be.
